In memory of

Ilija Dujmović

April 25, 1945 -  August 27, 2022

On Saturday August 27, 2022, our beloved Ilija (Kiro) left this world for a better place. After a valiant and prolonged battle with his health during 2022 - he is now at peace.

Ilija was born in Krehin Gradac, Bosnia Hercegovina. Ilija was born to Pero (Pešo) and Jela. A loving husband to his wife Finka of 50+ years, Tata to Peter (Yvonne) and Helen Dujmović (Paul) and Dedo to Ryan, Christopher, Joseph and Jelena. In Canada – he was Uncle to Jasna Zović (nee Barbaric) (Robert) and Great Uncle to Tomas and Marko. Internationally, Ilija is pre-deceased by siblings Jure, Bruno and survived by Slavko, Vinka, Ivanka and Zeljko and their families. He has numerous nephews and nieces through-out Germany and Australia. Additionally in Canada, his first cousins are Jozo Dujmović (and family), Mara Ostojic (and family) and Ruza Mijatović.

Ilija was a long time member of 'Queen of Peace Parish - Croatian Franciscan Centre' - Norval, Ontario.

He was extremely proud of both his country of birth and for Canada providing an opportunity to a better life. Initially, he was a talented Chef who transitioned to a successful career in Insurance Services. His passions were history, politics and current events. He was an active fund raiser and donor to numerous charities and community groups. Ilija’s ability to connect with people from all walks of life and standing was unmatched. Never one for a small dinner party – all were welcome to join. Iilja was a true gentleman who believed in humanity’s capacity for goodness and kindness.

We are saddened that you must go. But we are glad that you laid your burden down and finally have peace. God rest your soul!

We are saddened to hear about the loss of Ilija, or as I always called him “Kum Kiro”. He was a remarkable person who would light up the room with his contagious laughter. The Christmas parties and his cooking are memories I will hold on to and cherish forever. Kuma Finka, Peter & Yvonne, Helen, Paul, Ryan, Christopher, Joseph and Jelena, our deepest condolences to you all during this difficult time.
