IAN “Eeyore” BURNS LIND
July 28th, 1941 – April 7th, 2023
The family of Ian Burns Lind regret to announce his passing on Friday, April 7th, 2023 at the Collingwood Nursing Home in Collingwood, Ontario. Ian was born in Toronto, Ontario where he attended Upper Canada College and later went on to graduate from Waterloo Lutheran University (Laurier University).
Ian is predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret “Peggie” Lind (Antony Osborne, Leslie Osborne & Susan Osborne), his brothers Colin Burns Lind & Robert Jeffrey Burns Lind (Marilyn). Devoted Uncle to Heather Anne Lind and the late Andrew Jeffrey Lind.
In his early years he was a lifeguard during the summer months at the famous Algonquin Resort in St. Andrews and went on to work in the Computer field for Imperial Oil Ltd. & Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. As a proud member of the B&R, Toronto Golf Club and Craigleith Ski Club you could find him playing Tennis, Squash & Golf during the warmer months, and skiing down the mountains during the winter months.
Ian grew to enjoy lavish dinner parties with his late wife Peggie and cherished the time they spent at their farm in Thornbury, also known as the Grapevine. Following retirement, Ian was a simple man with quite the routine. If you couldn’t get a hold of him, you could always get a hold of him between 7PM – 8PM while he watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with his favorite TV dinner.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Collingwood Nursing Home for their exceptional care for Ian throughout the years as his dementia progressed.
The family will receive friends at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre- 375 Mt Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON. on Tuesday, April 18th at 1PM. Service in Chapel to follow at 2:00PM. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave West 16th Floor, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8 to continue their research on Dementia.
