In memory of

Hui Yen Sam Louie 雷煦然先生

August 19, 1930 -  March 12, 2025

Sam Louie, 94, passed away peacefully on March 12th. He valiantly tried to overcome the complications of repeated pneumonia after getting COVID. A devoted husband father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Sam lived a full and remarkable life, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and resilience.

Sam married his beloved wife, Yok-Wah at the tender age of 18. Their 76 years together were a testament to love, dedication, and unwavering partnership. Through every challenge and triumph, she stood by his side, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Sam was a proud father to his children: Christina (the late James), Tonny (Angela), Emma (Walter), Rita (Dave), and Benson (Linda). He adored his grandchildren: Stephanie (Edison), Ryan, Elizabeth (Evan), Alexandra, Lucas, Madeleine, Kaitlin (Sasha), Eric, Charlotte, Samuel, and Christopher. His legacy also lives on through his cherished great-grandchild, Scarlett.

An entrepreneur at heart, Sam built a successful career through hard work and an unwavering spirit. One of his greatest achievements was instilling a strong work ethic in each of his children. He led by example, teaching them the values of perseverance, dedication, and integrity. He was immensely proud of their successes and the professionals they became, knowing that his lessons and values would continue through generations.

Sam was a fighter in every sense of the word—whether in business, in health, or in life’s many challenges. Even in his final years, he faced adversity with strength and grace, inspiring those around him with his resilience and unwavering spirit.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A service to honour Sam’s life will be held on Saturday, March 22nd from 9-12 p.m. at Elgin Mills Cemetery and a visitation will be on Friday, March 21st from 4-8 p.m.

Sam Louie’s legacy of strength, love, and dedication will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.

Mr Louie was always cheerful and courteous. I have looked up to him as a Chinese Canadian who cared about his community and contributed to Canada as a true citizen. May his legacy live on in all those who knew him and learned from him.
