Hugh Clement CHAPMAN-Suddenly at home on August 30, 2023, age 68. Beloved husband and best friend of Jane Miller; brother to Bruce (Molly Kelly, Brian and David); brother-in-law of Ian Miller (Carol Green, Paul).
Hugh was born in Toronto, May 3, 1955, to Arthur and Alison Chapman. He lived in Toronto until he went to Hamilton to study business, graduating Hons Commerce, Summa Cum Lauda, in 1977 from McMaster University. He obtained his MBA from York University in 1978 and became a Registered Industrial Accountant in 1982. He met his wife, Jane Miller, while attending McMaster University. Both returned to Toronto and started their careers. Hugh joined the brokerage firm, McLeod, Young Weir in 1979, and held a variety of positions. He continued with them when the firm was acquired by Scotiabank.
Since retiring in June 2013, Hugh and Jane have enjoyed travelling. They have visited 56 countries on 6 continents (including Antarctica). They enjoyed regular excursions to the Stratford and Shaw Festivals. Hugh was a fan of many sports especially Formula 1 Auto racing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dystonia Foundation( https://www.dystoniacanada.org/); Baycrest Hospital, Spasticity Clinic in Kimel Family Building, (https://www.baycrest.org/); Heart and Stroke Foundation( https://www.heartandstroke.ca/) or charity of your choice.
In keeping with Hugh’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd., Toronto on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00. P.M.( speeches at 3).

My deepest condolences to the family. Hugh was an incredible person to work with. Always helpful and professional and knowledgeable. I can say we all thought we couldn’t survive without him and a great deal of that is very true. We miss him terribly.
I hope his retirement years brought him all the joy he deserved. A great loss to us all

Hugh was one of the good guys.

i enjoyed bumping into him & prompting him to share the latest thing he was working on. inevitably, it was a complex issue caused by an IE that required Hugh's deft hand to resolve.

Great fellow he will be missed
