In memory of

Horst Herman Siebert

February 17, 1932 -  February 9, 2024

Horst passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 9, 2024. He was supported and comforted during his last 2 weeks by his daughter, Evelyn and son, Ralph. He was predeceased by his son, Frank, in 1979, his wife, Ria, in 2002 and by his brother, Klaus, in 2020. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Evelyn; son-in-law, Rick Muldoon; grandson, Sean Muldoon; son, Ralph; daughter-in-law, Sandra; as well as his family in Germany: Bärbel Warzecha, his sister; Peter, his brother and their families; as well as Klaus’s family. Horst grew up in Berlin amidst the turmoil of WWII and met his wife, Ria in Wiesbaden. Horst and Ria immigrated to Montreal in 1958 where they raised their family of 3 kids. He began his career as a manager in the meat industry, progressing to various positions with several meat processing firms. Shortly after moving to Brampton in 1974, Horst and Ria separated and, after Frank’s sudden and untimely death, Horst lived and worked in Edmonton for several years until the couple reconciled in 1995, settling in Mississauga. Horst’s new career as a technical consultant to the meat industry allowed him and Ria to travel extensively throughout the world until Ria’s death, soon after which Horst retired to Newmarket where he enjoyed greatly spending time with his children’s families, never missing an opportunity to attend his grandson’s sports events. Horst was never as happy as when he and Ria were reunited after 20 years living apart. He missed his wife dearly when she passed away. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 2, 2024, 2:30 p.m. at the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre in Richmond Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Southlake Hospital in Newmarket would be appreciated.

We are so sorry for your loss. We are so glad you got to spend the time with him and travel with him in the last so many years. We always enjoyed the time we spent with him at the boys softball games. He was always happy to be there and eager to come again the next time.
