In memory of

Horst Meyer

January 11, 1933 -  November 7, 2021

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, best friends, son-in-law, and cat Squeeler. Horst was a self described adventure man who fled East Germany in his youth and settled in Toronto where he met his wife of 56 years. He worked most recently at Goodyear and Cadillac Fairview before moving outside Bracebridge for the first 15 years of a long retirement. He leaves his wife Margaret, daughter Christine, and treasured family and friends who filled his life with joy and listened to the stories he gathered throughout his life. Special thanks to Drs. Cheung, Bide, Tsihlias, Muinuddin, and Bala, and the wonderful nurses and support staff for their care over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice or a charity of your choice. Per the family’s request, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test and photo ID will be required from all guests that are over 12 years of age that will be in attendance for the indoor events. Masks or Facial Coverings must be worn at all times. The family asks that children under 12 attend virtually for their safety.

For those who wish to view the services remotely, a livestream link will be available at the top of this webpage at 1:50pm.

The service will be an informal celebration and family and friends are welcome to share their remembrances. Please let chrismeyercanada@gmail.com know if you would like to do so. An officiant will be available to read messages for those who prefer not to speak themselves or are joining virtually.
