In memory of

Honorata Kowalski

January 6, 1931 -  July 2, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Honorata Kowalski (nee Ozarowski). She peacefully passed away on July 2, 2020 at the age of 89 at the Credit Valley Hospital surrounded by her family. Survived by her loving husband Franciszek (Frank) Kowalski of 60 years. Predeceased by her parents [Maria and Alexandre Ozarowski], brother Joseph, sister Helen and survived by her brother Jezyk. Cherished mother of John (Ann) and Diane (Henry) and Wesly (Richard). Babi will be dearly missed by her grandchildren John Jr, Kristin, Ryan, Katie, Michaela and Nicholas and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honorata was born in Jawory, Poland on January 6, 1931. She came to Canada in 1959 to visit family and ended up settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she met Frank and married in 1960. They embraced their new life together and overcame challenges such as beginning the next chapter in their journey with limited resources, while learning a foreign language and navigating a new community. Through a combination of optimism and perseverance, they created more than a new life, they created a loving home that welcomed family, friends and neighbours. In 2002, Honorata and Frank yearned to be closer to their children in Ontario, resulting in them moving to Mississauga where they enjoyed their time with their new friends and the Polish community.

Honorata was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Babi. She had a vivacious personality and made friends easily. She loved her time at the cottage on Lake Winnipeg, enjoying this time with family and friends. Cooking and baking for everyone was a wonderful way that she would share her love. She enjoyed sewing, and was highly skilled with knitting needles and crochet hooks. The sweaters, scarves and baby blankets that she created will forever keep us warm. All of her homes were landscaped with apple trees and lush gardens, rich with fruits and vegetables. Her passion for gardening will forever live through her family.

Her memory lives on within us and provides us comfort knowing she is always near. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Many thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at the Credit Valley Hospital and the Oncologist unit at the Sunnybrook Hospital.

A celebration of Honorata’s life will be held at St. Eugene de Mazenod Church on 1252 Steeles Avenue West, Brampton, Ontario on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

“We will hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in heaven.”
