Hoan Ky Luu, age 51, passed peacefully in his home on May 13, 2020 due to medical complications. He was born on June 1, 1968 in Ho Chi Minh, Saigon, Vietnam to Thach Minh Luu (deceased) and Kim Ngo. Hoan is the younger brother to Hoa Yen Luu, Phan Yen Lu, Tu Nguu Luu, The May Luu, and the older brother to Thanh Hoan Luu.
Hoan is survived by his previous partner, Ly Dam, and his beloved son, Cayden Luu. He was a loving father to his son and his number one priority was to always ensure Cayden had everything he needed to be happy and successful in life. He always cared for Cayden from day one and harassed you with multiple phone calls a day to follow up if it was something for Cayden that he needed. He was the number one dad and his persistency always paid off. Hoan truly cherished and embraced every moment he had with Cayden.
We all remember Hoan for his bold and outspoken personality. He was well-known in the family for being the joker and never failed to put a smile on your face when you were with him. He spoke his mind and spoke how ever he wanted… that is, with no filter. It made for some hilarious scenes at every family gathering as we would egg him on to continue. There was no gathering with Hoan that did not end with at least one person’s stomach aching in pain from laughter because of something he said.
Hoan was also well-known for his unique mannerisms. He basically didn’t give a *BLEEP*! You would find him on the phone conducting his accounting business with confidence in the middle of a wedding ceremony, or sharing the most obscene stories in the middle of a family dinner. With all that being said though, Hoan was a family man and you could always count on him to show up to every family gathering. He was always reliable and if he couldn’t make it, he would ensure there was a spot for Cayden every time. Like many of us, and Chinese people in general, he loved nothing more than his family, money, and food. His go-to favourites were definitely a big bowl of pho, some peking duck, or an XL double double coffee. We will all enjoy some of these dishes and drinks in his honour.
Hoan’s spirit still resonates through this large family who love him very much, and his legacy will continue to live through our cherished memories of him every day. He will truly be missed.
