In memory of

Hisako Nishihama

September 20, 1935 -  December 12, 2018

Hisako passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 12, 2018, with her family by her side. Cherished wife of 40 years to the late Archie Akira. Loving mother to Sam, Mike (Vicki), Grace (Ramses), Mark and Chris (Chieko). Proud “Banchan” to Luke, Danielle, Amanda, Emily, Amy, Joshua and Natalie. Beloved sister to Kimiko, Etsuko, Motoi, Keiko and Mariko, all of Japan. Hisako was known for her meals, most notably, her legendary sushi and manju. Cooking for others was a labour of love she shared freely and she will be deeply missed by many. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Hisako’s Life on Monday December 17th at the Japanese Gospel Church of Toronto (301 Silver Star Boulevard, Scarborough, 416-335-5428). Visitation will be held at church from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm. A private interment will take place on Tuesday December 18th.

I am very sad that Mrs. Nishihama is no longer with us and yet I have to rejoice that she is now with her husband. She was a dedicated Christian, loving mother, a good wife, and the kindest neighbour. As a child, she and her family looked after my brother and I. I remember her house always being clean, her home cooking was always delicious, and everything about her was so nice. I would even say she was a "roll model Japanese Canadian". Thank you Mrs. Nishihama. I'm sorry I couldn't do more for you and say good-bye in person. May you enjoy eternity in heaven and I pray for comfort to your family here on earth.

Mother is the most expensive being on earth. No one and nothing can fill the void of this loss.
My deepest condolences.

My sincerest condolences. My mum passed away about 4 years ago and I still miss her very much. I know that this holiday season will be very difficult indeed.
