It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herman Delroy Johnson in his 74th year on September 2, 2018. He entered into rest surrounded by family at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga.
Herman was born on August 25, 1944, in St. Andrew, Jamaica to Israel and Almira Johnson and was the youngest of ten. He left Jamaica for the Bahamas in the 60s and lived with his nephew, Calvin, before calling Canada his home.
Herman was a proud Chrysler employee for 35 years, and he appreciated the long-lasting friendships he developed there. Herman was an avid Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, and he also loved music, dancing, and playing dominoes with friends. He was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and he held a special place in his heart for all his family and friends.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Paulette Johnson. Beloved father to Sharon, Michelle, Denise, and Claudia. Loving father-in-law to Michael and Daniel, and cherished grandfather to Mikayla and Amelia. Herman is survived by his sister Beryl Jarrett and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Herman will be forever missed and remembered by his family and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at Meadowvale Funeral Centre, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, on Friday, September 21, 2018, 6:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Herman’s life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Visitation will commence at 10:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Mount Zion Apostolic, 5865 Coopers Avenue, Mississauga. Herman will be laid to rest at Meadowvale Funeral Centre.
