Peacefully at Cummer Lodge on Saturday October 8, 2016. Dearly missed and cherished by Maria Baxter. Loving father to Susan Elizabeth Debenham and her husband Ian of Toronto, and to Steven Herbert Bergens and his wife Joanne of Edmonton. Cherished grandfather to Mathew Ian, Emily Eva, Stephanie Katherine, and Christopher Max. Cherished by his sister Alice Burmeister, and his nieces Kathleen (Kim) and Eileen (Neil). Dearly missed by John Baxter, Barbara Baxter and their children Karen (Ronan) and Eric (Stefanie), Michael Baxter, Jim and Sandy Baxter and their children Rebecca (Aaron), Kristina (Jason) and Natalie. Sadly missed by the Debenham and Gharghouri families. Predeceased by his father Otto Bergens, his mother Anna Bergens, his stepmother Magdalene Bergens, and his sister Erica Beaton. Special thanks to Mary Russo, Rochi, and Cummer Lodge.

I met Herbert over 30 years ago. I've spent 30 Christmas Eve's with him...he was the best Santa! I was part of many family celebrations, and shared a lot of good times with him and his family. He was like family to me, and he'll be greatly missed.
