In memory of

Henry Docherty

December 2, 1933 -  July 6, 2020

Henry (Harry) passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, July 6, 2020 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Rose (2018) and a proud and loving father to Lynn (1994) and Karen, he is fondly remembered by his large extended family and friends in Canada, the U.K. and elsewhere who all held a special place in his heart. Born in Billingham, England and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, he had made Canada his home for over 47 years and was a long-standing member of The Irish Club of Mississauga and the Bramalea Celtic Supporters Club.

He had a sharp sense of humour and was well-known for doodling cartoons and for ‘improving’ magazine pictures by inserting a cropped photo of his own face instead, along with DIY skills that would impress MacGyver. He will be dearly missed, but the often-told stories and tall tales will always bring a smile and keep him close.

We would also like to thank everyone at V!VA Mississauga who kept an eye on him, tried in vain to get him to eat vegetables, and laughed at his jokes these past 10 months.

A private memorial will be held at a later date when he rests with Rose and Lynn once again. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

I have so many fond memories of Henry Docherty dating back to when I was a teenager in the 1970's. His daughter Lynn was a very close friend of mine, and her loss still has a lasting effect on me. I always remember Henry being funny and joking around. He was kind and generous, and would often treat us to shows at dinner-theatre, and drive us places. He was very much a family man, and was highly protective of the 3 females in his life - his wife Rose, and his daughters Lynn and Karen. I also remember him loving his extended family and visiting Scotland on many occasions. As he leaves this Earth, may his soul once again rejoice in being reunited with Rose and Lynn. R.I.P Henry!
