In memory of

Hendrikus Spiekman

April 14, 1929 -  July 2, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hendrikus (Hank) Spiekman. Hank passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the age of 92.
Hank was born on April 14, 1929 in Utrecht, Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1958. He but we remain grateful for our time together and our wonderful memories.
Hank was proud to have spent his entire career working at Canadair, now Bombardier.
He was the loving partner of the late Elaine Macfarlane and is survived by his sons Eric (Tracy) and Steven, and beloved grandson Tyler. Hank also treasured spending time with Elaine’s sons Steven (Maria) and Rob (Christine), and her grandchildren Shannon, Stephanie, Sean and Neal.
Hank loved travelling to visit with his sons and grandson and, when family moved closer, having Sunday dinners together. His family and friends knew him as a loving, kind, hardworking and humble man. He will be missed every day, but we remain grateful for our time together and our wonderful memories.
A special thank you to the Doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto for their care and support.
A private family service will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Center on Saturday July 17th. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.etouch.ca . Hank will be laid to rest in Ottawa at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation. www.donate.sunnybrook.ca/tribute

I met Hank at Canadair back into early '80s. He helped me integrate into the work environment at Canadair when I joined as young engineer. He taught me a lot about elecromagnetic interference testing. I remember Hank being friendly, extremely competent and very helpful. A good man.

Hi Steven and Eric We were very sad to learn from Leslie Green that Hank had died. We did send an email on his 90th. It has been a long time but we met your parents in 1960 and had so many very happy times together. You were like family - don't know if you remember all the Christmases we spent together. Please accept our sympathy and think about the good times. Best wishes Audrey and Wally
