Helmut Wegerich

January 9, 1924 -  January 9, 2017

After a long battle with old age and a few strokes, Helmut peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on January 9, 2017 (his birthday) at Scarborough Hospital -Birchmount Campus. Survived by his loving wife Frieda (Painsi) of 56 years, cherished Dad to Ron (& Michela) and Andy (& Jen), beloved ‘Opa’ to Amanda, Megan, Tyler and Sydney. Throughout his years, his greatest passion was his accordion and chocolate and although he didn’t pick up the accordion for the last while, he could still play... Chocolate, on the other hand was never turned down. He will be missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17 with service and burial immediately following at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229).

Lots of love to you all. I would have loved seeing Helmet one more time. He lived a healthy life and he was lucky to have you all there with him. Honestly, had I the opportunity to visit him I would have brought a bottle of grappa and got him stone drunk one more time.
