In memory of
Harry Warner Williams
November 2, 1929 -
February 28, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harry Warner Williams, in his 89th year, on February 28, 2018. Harry was the beloved husband of Louise Griffiths.
Much loved by his children Lynne (Glen) Timney, David, Kenneth (Janet), Jim (Kim), and Paul (Angie); his grandchildren Laura (John), Kevin, Paige, Brooke, Chase, Adam, Matthew and Hailey; and great grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Ryder. Predeceased by his brothers Herbert, William, Frank, and sister Margaret. He is survived by his sister Helen, brother-in-law John Graham, and sister-in-law Gwen. He will be missed and remembered by his many nieces and nephews, friends, neighbours and former colleagues.
One of six children, he was born in Toronto on November 2, 1929, the son of Herbert Thomas and Edith Warner Williams. He lost his father at a young age and was raised by his mother Edith through the Great Depression and war years. Although a gifted student, he left school early at the age of 16 to help his mother support their family.
He attended the youth group at Dewi Sant Welsh United Church where he had many friends. He met his wife Louise when his brother Frank introduced him to his friend Glyn (Louiseās younger brother). They married on June 16, 1951 and enjoyed over 67 amazing years together.
A lineman at North York Hydro for 32 years, he spent many happy summers at the family cottage in Balm Beach. His personal interests included stamp and coin collecting, gardening, and writing in his daily journal. An accomplished honky tonk piano player he could play any song by ear. His smile, quick wit and dry sense of humour was forever present.
He died of esophageal cancer. His passing has eased his hurt and given him relief. His memory will live on in all of our hearts.
A celebration of his life will take place at the York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, (north of Sheppard Ave., West of Yonge St.) 416.221.3404 on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Monday, March 5, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A funeral service in his honour will be held in the York Funeral Centre chapel on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11 o'clock followed by burial at York Cemetery. Those wishing to honour his life may send donations to the Sick Kids Foundation.
