Hamilton Slade Palmer Jr. (Tony)
June 5, 1933 to May 31, 2016

Born to Hamilton Slade and Frances (Howard) Palmer in Waverly, New York, Tony is survived by his wife Jane (Harvey), son Stuart, daughter Sarah (Bob Ross) granddaughter Heather, sister Lucia Jo Feeley (Dennis, deceased) and brother Howard (Anne).

A graduate of Hamilton College, Clinton, New York, Tony completed his U.S. military service and went on to work in the human resources field in Toronto, Ontario. He was a manager for Direct Winters Transport and later the Ontario Ministry of Housing.

Following in his father's footsteps, Tony attended Taylor Statten's Camp Ahmek in Algonquin Park, where he was a camper and later a canoe-trip guide. It was here that he and Jane met.

Tony was an outdoorsman who was happiest at the family cottage in Haliburton. He will be remembered for his countless hours maintaining the property and a network of trails in the woods that continue to be enjoyed throughout the year. He cherished his time canoeing, skiing, gardening and working on his many construction projects.

Despite suffering a stroke in 2000, Tony overcame many of the resulting limitations and continued to enjoy his family and the cottage.

In 2009, he moved to Belmont House. In honour of Tony and the exceptional care he received, donations may be made to the Belmont House Foundation, 55 Belmont St., Toronto ON M5R 1R1 http://www.belmonthouse.com/SupportUs.aspx
