In memory of

Gwenneth Hall

October 15, 1931 -  September 6, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwenneth Ruth Hall, Bruno, (nee Peterson), on Tuesday September 6, 2022, at the age of 90. Formerly from Toronto, Gwen was currently living at Mill Creek Care Centre in Barrie ON. Predeceased by her husband Joseph Bruno.

Gwen was the proud and loving Mother of Gail Deere (Bob), Donna Ashbee (Michael), Stepmother to Marlene Cox (Jim), (deceased), Nadene Yarmon (Jim).
Grandmother to Sandra Woodfine, Greg Woodfine (deceased), (Stefanie)(Amber), Zachary Ashbee (Zach) and Sage Ashbee. Nana to Clinton Cox (deceased), Sloane Cox, Joel Yarmon and Lionel Yarmon. Great grandmother to Madison, Bernice, Sophie and Lincoln.

Predeceased by her beloved Mother Alma Mildred Peterson, and her cherished Father Dr. Clinton Pitt Peterson. Loving little sister to Doreen (deceased) and Al Thomson (deceased). Aunt to Bob Thomson and Carol Reso (Randy) and their families.

Gwen loved Muskoka and spent summers during her teen years and throughout much of her life, at our family cottage on Wood Lake. Here, she loved spending time enjoying family, barbecues, playing cards and games with friends, swimming, water skiing, sunbathing, and boating, and in later years snowmobiling. Other sports she enjoyed throughout the years were cross country skiing, golfing, and going for walks, well into her 80’s.

Gwen really enjoyed travelling. Over the years she visited Florida many times, England, parts of Europe, Mexico, and a few islands in the sunny South. She loved going away in the winter to anywhere hot! She always loved soaking up the sun, whether it be at Wood Lake in the summer or down south in the winter.

Gwen was born in Herschel Saskatchewan in 1931. She moved to Port Perry ON as a youngster with her family, then on to Toronto where she lived for many years.

In 1970, Gwen and Joe moved to the small town of Kleinburg ON, where they built a home, and lived there for a number of years.

In the early 1990’s and now on her own, Gwen decided to sell her home and move back to Toronto to try condo life. She really loved living back in the area of Toronto where she grew up and was to enjoy it for many more years. In her later years she moved to Huntsville and then to Barrie in her final years.

A funeral for Gwen will be held on Monday, September 26th at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, located in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto ON.

You are invited to join us from 11 AM – 12 PM to visit with family in the Red and White Oak Suite. Just before noon, anyone who wishes to say a final, ‘In person goodbye’ to Gwen, may do so.
She will then be driven to her final resting place, and we welcome everyone to join us.

Following the burial, at 1pm, we invite you to join us for a luncheon at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, in the Hickory and Gingko Suite.

In lieu of flowers, Gwen‘s family would truly appreciate donations be made to the ‘Alzheimer Society of Canada.’

With much gratitude our family would like to thank the staff of Mill Creek Care Centre in Barrie, and especially the staff of 3E for their dedication to excellent care and all they did for our mother, and as they do for each resident in their care.
A special thank you to Katie and Lauren.

We love you Mom♥️

She was Auntie “Ning” to me! Somehow my brother Bob came up with that name and it stuck. I can picture her and my mom at the cottage, sunbathing on their lounge chairs then dipping in the lake to cool off. Gail & I had a great childhood spending our summers on Wood Lake and Auntie Ning and my mom would discipline us equally if we acted up!
Rest in peace Auntie Ning ❤️💕

Gwen it was such a pleasure to have known you. You always had a spark in your eyes and kept me on my toes.
God has called you home and my heart is comforted that one day we will meet again.

John 14:1-3
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me.
2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
