Gus died peacefully at the age of 97 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Antonia. He will be fondly remembered by his children Effie (husband Dionysis) and Tom (wife Nota). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Paris and Ariadne.

Born in Greece, Kostis emigrated to Canada in 1956. He worked as a welder in the textile industry for many years and was a dynamic member of the Greek community. During the late 60s and early 70s, he helped make the Greek language available to young students of Greek heritage in their schools. Kostis was an active member of The Panarcadian Federation of Canada and the Polivios Syllogos Megalopoliton, participating in and organizing many fundraising events. He was president of Saint Demetrios Church Committee in the 80s. He was actively involved in the local chapter of TWUA, serving as secretary, vice president and eventually president from the late 70s until his retirement in 1990. Living across the street from Withrow Park, Kostis spent summers enjoying lively soccer games. But despite coming from a warm climate, it was hockey that became a passion for Kostis. He particularly enjoyed watching games between the Leafs and the Habs. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending the warmer half of the year in Arkadiko Horio in southern Greece where he cultivated lemons, oranges and olives. He made the trip every year until his last year. We will remember his social nature, his welcoming impulse and his enjoyment of company.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto.
