In memory of

Gunter Helmut Franke

January 28, 1936 -  June 28, 2021

Gunter Franke (1936-2021)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gunter, a loving husband, father and Opa in his 85th year on June 28, 2021. Gunter passed away peacefully at Mississauga Trillium Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with dementia. His loving wife and daughter were at his side holding his hands as he passed.
Gunter was a strong, kind, gentle and selfless man who loved to make people smile with his music and his humour. He touched the lives of so many people both on and off the stage with his music and sometimes his larger than life personality. Emigrating from Germany in 1963 as a millwright and self taught musician, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and would always lend a helping hand. Gunter was so full of life when spending time with his family and always made things fun. He enjoyed playing soccer, a good game of golf, fishing and travelling.
Beloved husband of 61 years to Inge, loving father of Simone and much loved Opa of Emily. Brother to Irene and the late Manfred.

Gunter is now at peace and suffers no more and will be forever loved and greatly missed by his family and friends.
No service has been planned and the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers

Dear Inge. My heart felt condolences on the passing of your husband. I know we spoke on many occasions about the challenges and emotional journey of caring if a loved one with Alzheimer's. You were a wonderful caregiver and very brave wife . Hope to see you soon. God bless.

We are sad that he is gone but, the memories that he gave us while he was here are too beautiful to forget. He will always be with us. We will remember his kindness and his love of music, as well as the love he had for his family. Words cannot express how we feel. Until we meet again- May God hold you in the palm of his hand. Remembering you with love.
