In memory of

Gordon "Rick" Richards

June 15, 1932 -  February 13, 2020

Gordon (Rick) Richards passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Rose and her daughter, Sue by his side on 13th February 2020 following a year-long battle with cancer. He will be forever missed by Rose, Sue, Sue’s daughter Claudia and his UK family – son Paul, daughter Karen, their spouses Debbie and Rob, grandchildren Bessie, Ella, Stuart and Kate (and her husband Scott) and by Rick’s great grandchildren Aubrey and Alfie.

Rick grew up in Overton, North Wales in the UK. He met and married his first wife, Monica, whilst serving for the RAF on the Isle of Wight. After leaving the RAF, he joined the Sussex Police force and served across the County achieving the rank of Superintendent. He retired after 25 years of service. Rick and Monica had two much loved children, Paul and Karen. However, after many happy years together, Monica passed away in 1993.

Rick was blessed to find love and happiness again with Rose and relocated to Canada, got married and they enjoyed 24 years of ballroom dancing with friends.

We remember Rick as a gentle giant in his expressions and understanding of people
He had a beautiful smile and a terrific sense of British humour
He put his lovely rose on a pedestal and he was there for her day and night
They loved their Sunday dancing and anywhere in the world they found places to enjoy dancing together
He was also a romantic and great poet
