In memory of

Gloria Viola

December 14, 1929 -  September 6, 2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Gloria Viola passed away peacefully with the love of her family surrounding her on September 6 2022,  at the age of 92 years.

Gloria was born in Manila, Philippines in 1929. She worked as a law stenographer and was best described as the life of the party. She loved to dance and had many suitors, but only one captured her heart, Marcelino Viola. She was married for 75 years (widow for 25) and had 8 loving children.

Gloria migrated to Canada in 1987 and everyone who knew her felt her big heart and giving nature. She loved spending time with her big family and helping those in need. She was a woman of many passions including knitting, reading the bible, ballroom dancing and later on in life when she couldn’t dance anymore, she loved watching her favourite show “dancing with the stars”.

She always had a positive attitude in life and very strong faith in God. Even when life would present challenges she woke up saying “Thank God for the Sunshine!” and never took life for granted. Her bright beautiful smile and joyful presence will always be remembered.

She will be missed by her children, Linda, Myrna, Josephine, Lydia, Grace, Maximo; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, (Marcelino); sons, (Alex & Jun); 5 brothers (Victor, Jose, Rufino, Ricardo, Eduardo, Romeo),2 sisters (Rosa, Lilia); grandson (Mark); and her parents: (Julia and Jose Galang).

The family wishes to send a special thank you to many family and friends for their care and compassion.

They invite everyone to please continue to share photos and stories on this website to honour Gloria’s life.

Sign the Guestbook with a personal message to Gloria and the family will print it and include it in the burial.
