In memory of

Gloria Lockyer

May 20, 1930 -  January 20, 2024

Gloria Lockyer (nee Gorassi) passed away on January 20, 2024, surrounded by her family. Gloria was born in Toronto on May 20, 1930 to Louis Gorassi and Teresa D’Amato. Oldest sister to Mary Lou, Rosalie, Louis, and Robert.

Gloria married Albert Lockyer in 1954 and, in over sixty-nine years together, they travelled the globe, made countless friends, and shared a lifetime of fantastic meals. They welcomed to this world their son, Louis, who Gloria now joins in the next world, and their daughter, Lori, who with Albert, misses her deeply.

Gloria took pride in, and made enduring friendships through, her 72-year working life that started in her aunts’ grocery stores on Elm St and concluded with her retirement from Daniels Financial Corporation. She loved cooking, gardening, shopping, and excursions to the casino.

Gloria will be missed by her many family members and friends, especially Kathy, Diana and Hugh, and son-in-law John.

The spark in Gloria’s life was her grandchildren, Michael and Sierra, and Jonathan and Victoria, and her great granddaughters, Georgina, and Elouise and Merrill, who will greatly miss their Nan.

Many thanks to the first responders, doctors and nurses at Scarborough General Hospital who cared for Gloria with such respect and kindness.

We will honour Gloria’s life at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto.

Sunday January 28, Visitation 3-5 p.m.
Monday January 29, Visitation 1-2 p.m. - Funeral 2 p.m.

Donations in Gloria’s honour can be made to Daily Bread Food Bank.

Lori, and family,
Gloria & I shared a lot of smart conversation, and good laughs. She was smart, and funny. And Gloria had achieved, and deserved, high status in business, way ahead of her time. No surprise to those of us who knew her. And loved her. Unfortunately for the last few years I haven't seen her, due to covid, etc. I will miss her greatly.
All the best to you and the family.
Vince

Gloria was a wonderful friend who lived life to its fullest and was always upbeat in her interactions with people. She excelled at everything she undertook - her job at Daniels, her garden and her immaculately kept home. She was extremely dedicated to her husband, Ab and her family. We will miss her lively conversations, advice and love. Rest in peace Gloria. You will be so missed.
Love,
Alan & Cecile Tonks
