In memory of

Gloria Jane "Glo" Peer

July 9, 1937 -  May 23, 2021

It's with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our mom - Gloria.

Mom passed away early in the hours of Sunday, May 23rd at Credit Valley Hospital.

For those who knew Gloria she could be bigger than life. She was a lot of things to a lot of different people - a mom, a daughter, an aunt, a “Lola”, a girlfriend, a cousin, a friend, a hockey mom, an antiques collector and dealer, artistic with an eye for design, an organizer, a depression glass collector, an avid sports fan, a party planner and amazing host, an animal lover, creator of the best turkey dinners, a poker player, a casino gambler, and an ally to LGBTQ community.

We have many fond and funny memories of the times we spent with her.

We want to thank all of the staff at Silverthorn Care Community for the wonderful care and love she received, especially the staff in Garden House. They truly took such good care of her.

We also want to thank all of our family and friends for all of the supportive phone calls, emails, texts, messages, cards, flowers all expressing love as we travel through this difficult time of loss. It feels wonderful to be surrounded by your outpouring of care and concern.

We're happy that Mom is in a better place and wish we could see Bud's reaction as they're reunited.❤️❤️❤️

Mom will be cremated at Simple Alternatives. Due to Covid we will wait until sometime in the near future when it is safe to gather and celebrate Gloria's life. More details about the celebration of her life to follow at a later date.

Before mom moved into Silverthorn Care she was supported by a community agency in Mississauga called Peel Senior Link. Each day she was visited by a team of PSWs and a homemaker who provided numerous supports. They provided Gloria with a lot of support and company. We are very grateful for their love and care. Peel Senior link operates in Mississauga and Brampton. They work with a lot of single/widowed senior women, who live alone, who live with modest incomes and are often isolated. Donations can be made to Peel Senior Link (see Donation tab).

Feel free to leave a condolence (in the guestbook) or leave a funny story about you and Gloria. If you have a photo you can upload in the photo gallery.

Gloria was such a big part of my childhood. Her contagious laugh, dry wit and big personality always made any gathering a memorable one. Gloria was a true friend to my mom and she would visit often. Even when Gloria's health started to fail she made the effort to check on mom. Thank you Gloria for enriching all our lives. Love you.

Always loved & admired, even adored Gloria, my teenage heroine! So stylish, witty, fun, full of energy & ideas & ready to defend me. The world was a better place with Gloria in it. Be at peace amongst the stars. All my love Donna.

What a wonderful tribute to your mother! I know you will miss her dearly but have so many memories to cherish. I will always remember the day we would spend watching the Pride March and how supportive she was! Gloria will always be our collective memories!

I will always remember the fun I had at Aunt Glo and Uncle Buds house! From swimming in the pool, attempting to be brave in front of the life sized doll in the basement, and family get togethers, these memories will always be cherished. My deepest love and condolences ❤️
Jess.
