In memory of

Gloria Bond

May 25, 1929 -  December 22, 2024

Gloria Bond was a vibrant soul - her passions many: singing, piano, education, languages, and helping the underserved. Gloria pursued each with gusto. She sang in the choir at Peoples Church and on the TV show “Let’s Sing Again’, and played piano at gatherings and concerts.

Gloria was a strong woman. In spite of racial and gender tensions and prejudice prevalent in her day, she pursued and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education at Columbia University in NYC. She studied Special Education so that she could help academically challenged children be successful in school. She was dearly loved by her students.

Gloria also did Post Graduate work at Universite (Catholique) Paris, France. She loved travelling in Europe and Mexico, speaking French, German and Spanish. She received scholarships from U.S.A. Quakers as a student volunteer to help build a Student Hostel in Rotenburg an der Fulda in Germany and orphanages in Switzerland and Mexico.

Gloria held fast to her faith in her Saviour, Jesus Christ, and sought to share His love with those she met. All along the way, Gloria delighted to connect with people of all ages, cultures and races.

Gloria, we will miss your spark, kind words and belly-laughs. Rest safe in the arms of Jesus.

I will remember Gloria most for her ability to find joy amidst pain. I will remember her delight in hymns, small children, and my mom’s presence. I will remember her faith and resilience.
Rest safe in the arms of Jesus, Gloria.
