In memory of

Glenn Walker

June 15, 1937 -  September 27, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Glenn Martin Walker, peacefully with his family, on September 27th, 2024 at the age of 87. Son of the late Myrtle (Camp) and Arthur Walker. Beloved husband of the late Madeleine Walker (Gauthier) for 46 years. Loving and devoted father of Dave, Val (Dave) and Rob (Natalie). Dear grandfather of Madeleine, Quinn, Shayne, Emily, Tyne and Nya. Predeceased by his brother Wayne (Norma); and survived by his brother Ron (Susan). Glenn was a graduate of Saint Mary’s University and enjoyed a successful career in administration with C-I-L Industries and the University of Toronto Mississauga campus.

Glenn was a kind and generous man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching tennis and vacationing in Ogunquit with his wife, traveling to Myrtle Beach with his kids, coaching soccer, entertaining his grandchildren at his “cool condo with the pool” and treating everyone to dinner at the Mandarin (his granddaughters’ favourite restaurant). He really enjoyed participating in lots of fun activities with Madeleine. He was an avid reader, especially about history, investing and health who was always available to help his children with financial and other investment related questions. Born in Halifax, Glenn always had time to share stories about his upbringing, including how to steam a great lobster. He was a loving father and grandfather who was there for his children and grandchildren, especially after the passing of his wife.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Silverthorn Care Community, who provided comfort and support during the past year and led a very touching procession to celebrate his life. A memorial service will be held at a later date, in Montreal, where he will rest in peace next to his wife, the love of his life.

Such fun and happy memories of all the crazy cousins running around the Walker family house, kids yelling and laughing, and Uncle Glenn ducking his head to get through the doorway, always calm, and such a gentle and kind man. Aunt Madeleine and I share the same birthday, and I miss her very much; she was always strong and determined, and I’m glad to know they are together again, laughing just like I remember.

Uncle Glenn was sweet and friendly. Living in a different city my whole life, I unfortunately didn’t have very many interactions with him, but uncle Glenn will remain in my heart as a special person.
