In memory of

Giuseppe Listro

January 26, 1921 -  March 4, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe “Peppino” Listro on Wednesday March 4th 2020 at the age of 99. He is survived by his loving children Corrado (Laura), Francesca, Paul (Erin) his grandchildren Andrea (Yossi), Nadia (Nicholas), Daniela (Derek), Stefanie (Johnny) Joey, Francesca, Sean, Evan and his 4 great grandchildren Olivia, Gianna, Christian and Isabella. Giuseppe was a devoted family man who put everyone else before himself. He immigrated from Pachino, Sicily to Canada in 1950 to start a new life and soon married his sweetheart, Concettina DiPietro in Toronto. For those who knew Giuseppe, he loved to share his life’s experiences and was an avid story teller. He would speak about growing up in Pachino, how he was a Police Officer and that he loved cycling. He spoke about his experiences in WW2 and proudly showed his X-ray of the injury to his leg. He was proud of his 25+ at Crouse-Hinds having worked in their foundry making things like traffic lights. In his retirement he spent hours in his beloved garden and tried every year to grow the longest squash and the juiciest tomatoes. Most of all what he and his wife Concettina loved most was spending time with their children and grand-children and great-grandchildren. Together they celebrated little and big moments like holidays, birthdays, sacraments, family picnics, playing cards, sleepovers, trips and other milestones. Giuseppe was a strong man and could handle anything that came his way. He was our family’s rock and one everyone could rely on and would go to for words of wisdom. Giuseppe was a loving husband to his wife Concettina for 63 years. He was a devoted father, who demonstrated that hard work, respect and good family values were the way to succeed in life. He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren as a hero and inspiration and will live on in the stories they will share and pass along to his beloved great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the wonderful team at Villa Columbo in North York who treated Giuseppe with respect and dignity during his stay there. Our hearts are broken but our memories of you will be forever eternal. Heaven has gained an angel. Rest in Peace.
