In memory of

Gisela Wagner

November 8, 1925 -  December 24, 2016

Gisela Wagner…91 years young…an incredible soul who triumphed over life’s deepest challenges while always remaining a child at heart. She will be remembered for her extraordinary courage, stubbornness and stamina, as well as her desire to love and give to her wonderful family of four sons, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Gisela was pre-deceased by her first-born child (Erik), husband (Frederick Wagner) and her best friend/companion (Alfred Wermescher).

She grew up in Timisoara, Romania, and after the war Gisela and her husband immigrated to Canada with their two boys…Alfred (Al) and Erwin. Shortly thereafter, she had two more sons…Richard (Rick) and Robert (Rob).

Gisela and Fred started a Barber Shop/Beauty Salon in Scarborough and ran a successful business for many years, after which they retired to View Lake. After the death of Fred in 1989, Gisela moved back to Scarborough, and eventually met Alfred. They had many travelling adventures together over the next 21 years.

Her neighbours admired her tenacity and would often offer assistance whenever possible. She went to the German Club as well as attended Bingo with her Bingo buddies each week.

Gisela had a full life and will be greatly missed by all.

Mom set up wonderful traditions for the family … February birthdays, Easters and Christmas Eves. She loved being with family, and we loved getting together with her. She was the epitome of family, and we will miss her deeply.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Wagner Family. I have known Mrs. Wagner for over 50 years and as a neighbour spent many hours with the boys and in her home. Always gracious and welcoming she treated me like a son and I considered her my second mom. I will always remember her and she will be missed by everyone she touched.

Grandma loved to share stories and boy were they fascinating. I loved the moments that we got to share! So privileged and honored to be apart of the Wagner family.
