Girard "Gerry" Rock

Girard (Gerry) Orville Rock 91, passed away Thursday, November 25th, 2021. Gerry was born January 6th, 1930 to Henry and Ovelina (Duquette) Rock in Tilbury, Ontario.

Gerry graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1951 and served as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces until 1952. On a blind date arranged by friends, he met his beautiful wife of 64 years, Diane Evelyn (Mayes) Rock and married in Toronto ON July 6, 1957.

Gerry began his computer programming career in North Bay ON and was transferred to various cities across North America including Santa Monica CA, Cape Cod, MA, Newcastle NB, Belleville IL and Winnipeg MB before growing roots in Brampton ON. Gerry worked at Litton Systems for 24 years and retired in 1995 as an Advanced Systems Manager. Gerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved camping, fishing, gardening, and taking part in the activities of his children and in later years his grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Diane; sister Patricia Rock; sons Gary (Carol Ann), Craig (Terri) and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Rock; daughter Tracy (Fred) Burck; grandchildren, Matthew, Corrina, Clarissa, Olivia, Brayden & Serena Rock, and Sierra & Joshua Crowell.Gerry is predeceased by his parents Henry & Ovelina Rock; brother’s Herman & Donald Rock, sisters Beulah Ermie, Doris Warren & Patricia Rock; and grandson Steven Rock.

A visitation for Gerry is planned for Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, Ontario, immediately followed by the service.

Uncle Gerry was a favourite uncle to all of us as we grew up. Always made everyone feel important and special. Such a happy person and his sense of fun was infectious.
