Gilbert “Duke” Ronald Jones

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gilbert “Duke” Ronald Jones in his 85th year. Duke passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 16, 2023, after a short but brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Duke is reunited with his beloved wife, Carol
“Ange”, in heaven.
Duke was born in East York, Ontario, on October 17, 1938 to Violet and Joseph Jones. He was the one of 11 children. He married Carol Ann Goddard on the 27th of June 1959. They were married for 50 years before her passing in 2010.
Duke spent a majority of his life proudly working as a Toronto Cabbie, sharing stories and proudly helping the Toronto Police Service solve crimes. In his younger years Duke enjoyed spending time on his boat at the trailer park, sharing a drink with friends and a good game of golf.
Duke is survived by his siblings Frank (Linda) and Barbara. He will be sadly missed by his children, Wanda (Dave), Gilbert Jr. (Patricia) and Warren (Kim), his 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery & Funeral Centre on Thursday February 23, 2023 starting with Visitation at 1pm followed by the Funeral service and burial at 2pm. Celebration of life will take place afterwards at the Olde Stone Cottage Pub. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Hospital for Sick Children.
