It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on Sunday, November 15, 2020. She passed away peacefully at the Newmarket Health Centre, just short of her 100th birthday.

She was such a strong and proud individual, always thinking of her family and others first. The last few months, however, have been very difficult and challenging with the COVID 19 pandemic.

She has now been reunited with her beloved late husband, Edward Welin who passed away in 2010 and with her sister Maria and brother Anders. Loving mother to Lennard (Carol) and Helen (Paul). Dear grandmother to Saira (Ryan), Brittany and Alison (Tyler). Great grandmother to Easton and Asher.

Gertrude will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. We would like to thank the staff at the Newmarket Health Centre for their care and compassion while she resided there and especially during the pandemic.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with immediate family only at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York.
