In memory of

Gerrit Wouter Bakker

July 12, 1940 -  February 13, 2024

Peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the age of 83. Gerrit Bakker of Fenelon Falls was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Moore) Bakker, 2016. Loving father of Suzanne and her husband John Ware, Elizabeth and her husband Dave Luimes and Gregory and his wife Aleta Bakker. Gerrit was the proud Opa to Mason, Madeline, Griffin, Ivy and Nathan. He is survived by his brother Joost Bakker of Vancouver and sadly pre-deceased by his sister Annemarie and brother Barend. Gerrit was a longtime employee of Bell Canada and in his retirement he and Patty enjoyed their time at the cottage on Balsam Lake. Gerrit was also known to have an impressive sweet tooth and the candy bowl was always within reach. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 11 am - 12 pm with reception to follow.

Sincere thanks to the dedicated staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Ross Memorial Hospital and of Adelaide Place. Your care and compassion does not go unnoticed.

Remembering our many chats and laughs that we have shared over the 20+ years of working together. Thinking of the family and sending sincere condolences at this difficult time.

Uncle Wout always had a smile for me, a quick kiss and hug, the constant audible tick of the pacemaker, but it wasn’t until my last few visits that we had the opportunity to sit and have a good yarn. July 2022 Beth took my call and accepted a very last minute visit with Uncle Wout at Balsam Lake. We talked for hours and it was priceless! Thank you so much Beth for helping to make this happen.

To Suzanne, Beth, and Greg. On February 13th, you all wrote such beautiful tributes. Thank you for sharing such personal memories with us. Although not unexpected, it is still hard to say good bye. Wout went to Patty just 1 day before her birthday. I can’t help but wonder if he planned this. They are now both at rest.

Much love to you all
Sandra, Carlos, Alie, Oliver, Jeremy
