In memory of

George G. Lundrigan

October 26, 1931 -  August 24, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Lundrigan on August 24, 2024, in Port Perry, Ontario at age 92. Predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth, his brothers, Willie and Dave, his sisters, Minnie, Alma, Cassie, Gwen and Creina. He is also predeceased by his wife, Clara Lundrigan (nee Lynch). He was dearly loved and leaving to mourn, his daughter Doreen (Don), son Greg (Charlene) and cherished grandchildren, Donny, Jennifer, and Clara. As well as his brother Willis (Audrey) and sister Muriel. He will also be dearly missed by his many cousins, nephews, nieces, their spouses and many friends.

George was born on October 26, 1931, in Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland. He was one of ten children living in a small rural community. George left home at the age of sixteen to work in construction in Toronto, Ontario but always returned to his beloved Newfoundland where he met his wife Clara and had his first child, Doreen. George and his family moved and settled in Toronto permanently in 1959, and a couple of years later welcomed their son Greg. George never forgot his roots, passing on traditional Newfoundland food to his children and grandchildren. In 1989 his wife Clara tragically lost her battle with cancer at the age of fifty-four. Years after the devasting loss of Clara, George married Sybil Coombs who had also tragically lost her husband a few years earlier. The two remained happily married until Sybil’s passing in 2012.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11 am in Pickering at St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Anglican Church, (882 Kingston Road Pickering, ON L1V 1A8).

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Oak Ridges Hospice, where George spent his final days surrounded by family and receiving exceptional care. We would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Oak Ridges Hospice for making George part of their family and providing him wonderful end of life support.
