March 15, 1930 -  December 17, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Douitsis at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on December 17, 2021 at the age of 91. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years Kay and their children Peter, Chris (Andrea), and Anne. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Taylor and Mitchell. George was predeceased by his parents Pantelis and Evdoxia and his brother Aristidis. He will be missed by his sister Margaret. He will also be greatly missed by his nephews Peter (Sophia), Angelo (Lee), John (Debbie) and their children. Special loving consideration to the Zoras and Vassos families. A retired restaurant owner, George loved to garden and watch the Leafs. A special thank you to the incredible staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, his geriatric care medical team, PSWs, the WLHIN and his caring neighbours. Visitation will be at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, ON, M4T 2V8) on Tuesday December 21st from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. A private service and interment will follow. Our condolences on the passing of your father. The Tassios family have many fond memories of him and your entire family. Dad spoke highly of your father and their close association and partnership of Highland Creek Restaurant and Victoria Park Fish & Chips!

We also have enduring memories of both families growing up. From our times spent at the cottage at Musselmans Lake to sleep overs at both our homes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times.

Such sad news. We never want to get to this point, but we still do. George was a wonderful man.... a consummate host who would always greet you with open arms and make you feel welcome. Never short on opinions and always willing to engage in a good and friendly debate - name your topic! To Kay, Peter, Chris and Anne: we love you. We hope that your many fond family memories will carry you through the tough days ahead. To George: you believed in me and gave me my first summer job in 1972. You taught me how to run a business with customers first in mind. I will be forever grateful. I promised Jim Zoras a Stanley Cup for the Leafs last spring, but I could not deliver.... so George, no promises, but we will keep the faith strong as our collective hope springs eternal. Godspeed and rest in peace.
