George (Nelu) Blanaru, beloved husband of Maria Blanaru and beloved father of Eleni Blanaru, died Friday April 15, 2022. He was 86 years old.

George was born in Bucharest Romania on December 17, 1935 to parents Virginia and Octav Blanaru. He, his wife and young daughter arrived in Canada in 1972 with just one suitcase. Living in a small apartment with his brother-in-law’s family, he persevered to live the “Canadian dream”, taking English classes during the day and working odd jobs in the evening. Even though he was an accountant in his home country, he took jobs that would pay the bills, saved and purchased his first car and first home. He eventually landed a job at Chrysler Canada and his dreams started to materialize. Windsor Canada became home, where he lived for the rest of his life with his wife, his daughter, Eleni and his other “four legged daughter, Princess”.

In addition to his wife Maria, he is mourned by his daughter Eleni & her partner Cheyene, and his extended family - brothers and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be hosted on April 20 at 2pm at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Center.
Viewing will begin at 1pm.


George died surrounded by his family. He will be dearly missed
