We’re so sorry to hear that Mrs. D has left us. She was always so kind and friendly, full of smiles and laughs. She is at peace now.

I have so many fond memories of Genia when I was in my teens. From making egg whites and honey face masks, to cheese whiz pasta, listening to Genita’s sisters Dead or Alive albums and just hanging out. Her home was always welcoming to all. My memories of Genia will always bring a warm smile to my face. My deepest sympathies go out to her entire family. She will be greatly missed. Xo

I have known Genia since 1948 or 49. Our families were friends and we spent much time together at each other's homes. We lost touch until she came and asked me to sew a suit for her. It was beautiful and she loved it--it pleased her to tell everyone that it was sewn by a Russian. I lost touch with her until later years when she moved to Oakville and we met by accident in a shopping parking lot. Had a chance to catch up with her life. I was saddened to hear of her death. I can't begin to express how deeply saddened I am by the loss of such an amazing person. Mrs. D was like a second mom to me. She was a kind, thoughtful person with the biggest heart and the best sense of humor. She never forgot a special occasion which was always commemorated by a card in the mail signed "Mom 'D'", not only for me but my husband and kids as well. I will cherish all the time we spent together. From our late night conversations while I waited for Genita to get ready for our night out to the endless coffee dates we had at Tim Horton's where everyone knew her by name. Her beautiful spirit will live on in her beautiful family and in all of our memories of her. She will truly be missed. xoxoxo
