In memory of

Gary Paul Robertson

April 4, 1956 -  November 14, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Paul Robertson announces his sudden passing on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the age of 63 years. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his daughters April and Kelly by his former wife Liza, his brother Philip (Dolly) and his stepfather Joerg Koechel. He is also survived by his stepmother, Louise, and stepsisters, Sharon Turlej (Michael) and Jennifer. Gary was predeceased by his brother Laurence (1960-1967), father Donald (1926-2002) and his mother Maureen (nee Higgins) Koechel (1935-2017).

An avid, lifelong learner and lover of music, Gary's bizarre collection of National Geographic magazines and unusually large collection of Laserdiscs will definitely spend the rest of their days collecting dust. A self-proclaimed "old guy", even before his "old guy" era had begun, he lived up to the moniker by making inappropriate dad-type jokes and sarcastic comments at every opportunity as well as a healthy sprinkling of bathroom humour. A child at heart, Gary enjoyed irreverent cartoons as much as the average 14 year old boy would. Skilled in the English language and armed with an extensive vocabulary, Gary was exceptionally proficient with curse words, with his favourites being of the four letter variety, and usually being hurled to other drivers on the road. Gary was renowned for always speaking his mind, staying true to his convictions and opinions, and putting entirely too many blueberries in Sunday morning pancakes. Passionate about golf and steadfast with snooker, Gary persisted with these hobbies for years, amassing a haphazard assortment of golf clubs and a surprisingly sizable amount of cue chalk, much to the envy of nobody. Fond of all animals and nature, Gary will also be sorely missed by his beloved yet monstrous Quaker Parakeet, Larry, who he adored much to the chagrin of his children.

Family and Friends will be received at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE- MISSISSAUGA 1535 South Gateway Road (at Dixie Road, two lights south of Eglinton) 905-602-1580 on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 for a Memorial Gathering from 4 - 8 p.m.
In honour of Gary, donations to the Ontario SPCA or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

We may not have been close geographically but we were always close in many other ways. When we did get together we reminisced of our little brother Laurence who we lost at 7 years old in 1967 and of course all his adopted wildlife he used to bring home. Of course we had to have a game or two of golf as well with our late mother and stepfather who also loved the game. Gary you will be missed by all of us, Rest In Peace little brother and maybe you will catch up with Laurence, dad and mum and have a few rounds with mum.
Love and miss you little brother.

Liza, April and Kelly:
My condolences to you all for the loss of Gary. He was a life-long friend of my ex-husband and friend Randy Barnesco. I met you many years ago when Randy & I were married and lived in Oro, north of Barrie.
God bless you all.

Gary will be terribly missed by the Barnesco family. A dear friend to Dave since high school days, he was part of daily life via Skype and a regular visitor. Christmas Dinner will never be the same! Gone far too soon and will be ever alive in our hearts.
