In memory of
姚惠姬 Gail Yiu
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Gail Yiu (姚惠姬) on December 22, 2024 at the age of 68 while travelling on a cruise ship in the Indian Ocean near the Republic of Mauritius. Gail was the youngest of her siblings, and will be fondly remembered by her surviving older brothers and sister, her extended family overseas, her nieces, nephews, their children, and her many friends.
Gail was a beloved member of her family and her community. As a devout Catholic, she demonstrated her faith to the Lord in the everyday things that she did. She did countless acts of service for those she loved, from caring for sick relatives, and nurturing the children in her family, to volunteering for numerous organizations, and helping friends in need. Her loved ones will remember the delicious home-cooked dishes she brought to gatherings, and the skillful handiwork in garments she made for others—some of the many creative pursuits she had.
Gail was also an avid traveller. Those who know her would agree that she was, perhaps, one of the most well-travelled people they knew. She was a very careful and detail-oriented person, even in her trip planning. Travel companions of Gail’s would appreciate all the research and preparations she would do to help make their trip an enjoyable one.
Gail cared deeply for the people in her life, and appreciated living, playing and growing with us all. It made her happy, and we feel blessed to have shared in her happiness. We will all miss her dearly.
In memory of Gail, donations may be made to St. Basil’s Catholic Parish, St. Agnes Kouying Tsao Parish, or St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in support of their charities.
