With great sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Gabriel on Saturday October 22 2016 at Orchard Villa Long Term Care, Pickering, at the age of 90 years, with his daughter Sylvia Anna at his side. Gabriel was born in Regetow, Poland, but of Ukrainian heritage, to Ivan and Anna on June 3 1926. He was the eldest of six siblings and was predeceased by his parents and very recently his sister Teresa (Yuri, predeceased). He was a protective older brother to Teresa, and to Emil (Anna, predeceased), Antonina (Daniel), Semen (Teresa) and Mary (John). A very hard worker, once he was established after emigrating to Canada in the early 1950’s, he helped his parents and most of his siblings to come to Canada. He married Ursula (nee Misch) in 1955, and they had one daughter Sylvia Anna (Robert). He was a feisty, kind and humorous uncle to many of his siblings’ children. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sivapalan and the staff in the Aspen Unit of Orchard Villa Long Term Care for their continued kind and compassionate care of Gabriel.
