-My grandmother, Lau Fung Ming, 106, a survivor of the second world war and of the Japanese invasion and occupation of China
-She started a new adventure in her 60s by coming to Canada to support her children's new lives as immigrants
-She was mentally and physically strong until the very end, and surrounded by family
-Her life is a victory and an inspiration

Grama had a long and great life. We are all blessed to have known her. She leaves behind family members who loved her very much and will always keep her in their hearts

-I will remember the taste of her special vegetarian vermicelli with carrots, shiitake, and dried bean curd, and how she would set aside some for me whenever she made some
-I will remember the tell-tale sounds of her cane knocking against the wall and her footsteps down two different sets of stairs as she came down the basement kitchen to chat with her daughter and listen to the radio
-I will remember how she would randomly knock on my door and silently gesture with a bowl and a bag of chips and pour them out while I held the bowl
-I will remember watching the 7 o'clock news and 8-10pm TVB dramas along with her daughter on school nights, making jokes and commentary throughout
-I will remember the way she would sit in her chair in her room and quietly knit hats and sweaters
-I will remember how she would cook for herself, take baths by herself, and go out for short walks around the neighbourhood, the neighbours greeting her, and the gleeful smile on her face whenever she laughed
-I will remember her strength, vitality, and the light she brought with her
