In memory of

Fung-Kam Irene Yeung

March 6, 1942 -  November 13, 2022

Fung-Kam Irene Yeung, 80, of Scarborough Ontario passed away of ALS on Sunday November 13, 2022 with her children by her side. Irene was born in 1942, in Guangdong, China. She attended St. Mark’s School where she met some of her lifelong friends. Irene became a nurse in 1965 and practiced as a midwife from 1967-1972. In 1967, Irene married the late Timothy Yeung and they lived together in Hong Kong until 1980 when they immigrated to Canada. In Canada, Irene ran a home daycare for many years and later worked at Good Shepherd Daycare for 18 years until she retired.

Irene will be dearly missed by her children Hanson, Euson (Carol) and Grace (Allan), grandchildren Josiah, Ryan, Joelle, Audrey and Timothy as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband in 1983.

Irene’s love for good food was how she nourished both family and friendships. From elaborate holiday meals to weekly homemade soups for her kids, she showed her thoughtfulness and deep love for her family. As an avid knitter, Irene lovingly crafted sweaters and blankets that continue to be cherished to this day. Always the teacher, she spent her retirement years raising each of her grandchildren in turn, nurturing them physically and spiritually. Irene prayed faithfully for and with her children and grandchildren.

Irene will always be remembered for her steadfast commitment to her faith, friends and family. As a faithful Christ follower, she humbly served as a mentor and leader at her church for many years shaping countless lives. Her actions reflected that doing God’s work was always close to her heart.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 22 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Markham Christian Community Church (77 Milliken Meadows Dr., Markham, ON, L3R 0V5). A tribute by MCCC will take place from 6:00-6:30 pm. Visit with us and share memories, stories, tears, and laughter for a dear mother, sister, and friend.
