It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frederick (Ted) Roy Gibson who died gently at home on May 7, 2022 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Diana, father of Sabina (Ryan) and Matthew, grandfather to Xen, Jacob and Sammy. Son of Frederick and Angeline (nee Roy), he is survived by his sister Charmian (Don). He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces Leslie, Tania and Vanessa and many cousins and extended family. His presence will be sorely missed.
Born in Montreal, friends were the center of his life, many of whom he stayed in touch with throughout his lifetime. As a young man Ted enlisted in the US navy, there developing skills in communications and many long lasting relationships. Following his return to Montreal, Ted continued his career in communications working for Bell Northern and then later Ericsson Canada where he enjoyed a fulfilling and successful 36 year career. Moving to Ontario to continue his career, Ted was known as a strong but fair manager becoming a mentor to many and leaving an indelible mark on them. He was caring man admired for his wisdom, dedication and self-assurance.
His travels led him to many places in the world where he again established long standing relationships. An avid sports fan, always ready for a party, Ted displayed his great sense of humor socializing with friends - he had mastered the “joie de vivre” which he exuded to everyone he met.
True to his nature, Ted requested a celebration of life to be held in Mississauga with close friends and family to be followed by second memorial for those in Montreal at Rideau Funeral Home, Dollard des Ormeaux, July 7th from 3:00-5:00pm. Internment will occur with family present on Mount Royal.
Ted believed that charity begins at home, so anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in his name may select whatever is close to their hearts.
