In memory of

Frederick 'Rick' Butler

October 23, 1948 -  September 2, 2024

It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved father Frederick (Rick) Robert Butler, who left us on September 2nd, 2024 at the age of seventy-five, surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. He was a man of immense humour and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.

Rick loved playing guitar and jamming with friends and family, even singing on occasion. He would often be found with his guitar around the campfire on his many camping trips with the Scouts.

His passion for fishing was immense. He would always have a fishing rod in the back of his car, and he would take any excuse to cast a line into the water. He enjoyed spending time with Neal, Phil, and Jeremy on their many fishing trips.

Rick enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey, being a season ticket holder for the Oshawa Generals for many seasons, and cheering on the Maple Leafs. He was a member of various bowling leagues, and had great times on the golf course.

He served in the Navy and would often reminisce about the good times he had with his sailor buddies. He was honored to be a Veteran and proud to support the troops.

His kind, warm spirit made it easy to count on him as a friend wherever he went. From his work friends through HH Angus, Bank of Nova Scotia, and CBRE, to his nights at the bingo hall, his tender heart would bring a smile to anyone he met.

Survived by his son, Brad Butler (and wife Heather,) and family, Chris and Fred, Alexander, (Megan), Sara, (Pierre), Rigel, Thomas, (Zoe), and his grandchildren, Keenan and Chey. He will be missed by his cousins and his extended family.

My most sincere condolence to Rick's Family for their sudden loss. Rick and I met back in 1970 during the time when he worked for the Art Gallery from there we always managed to work for the same companies including Angus Management and Scotiabank. Through the decades we shared many memories. The Oshawa Generals surely lost and will miss their beloved fan.
