In memory of
Frederic Victor Moore
September 5, 1931 -
September 16, 2023
Fred was the youngest of 9 children, growing up in Sliema, Malta, during the Great Depression and Second World War, and came to Canada in 1952. Fred landed a job with the City of Toronto. In the mid-1960s, he started work with Canada Post which provided a good living and the benefits from working outdoors. When he developed arthritis, he took an inside job until retirement.
Fred was an able pianist who played by ear, loved all music, and was a fan of audio equipment, acoustic and electric pianos. In his later years, he spent hours on his computer and toured the local malls with his walker, bartering with local vendors.
Living independently into his 92nd year, Fred passed after a 6 month struggle with pain, immobility and complications he could no longer sustain.
Fred is survived by sister Laura, sister-in-law Edith, many nephews and nieces, his six children, their partners, and five grandchildren.
Our thanks go to ALL who worked at Michael Garron Hospital Coxwell and Kingston Road locations. This includes EMS workers, doctors and specialists in Emergency, Respirology, Cardiac Intensive, Speech Pathology who provided thoughtful professional guidance. Most particularly we thank the many nursing and personal care staff, who so very patiently and compassionately cared for Fred. Our special thanks to Katerina, Sophia, Fatima, Auruwen, Johnelyn, Gladys, Kathy, Adiba, Robin, Galvin, Daniel, Kevin and many whose names are beyond recall, yet whose care is not forgotten.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please regularly acknowledge and encourage the acknowledgement of the workload and demands on nurses and personal support workers and their importance in your and your family’s lives in the most difficult of times. If you can do more, please do.
