In memory of

Freda Hopkinson-Manning

The old lady waits with bated breath
As on her bed she lies
Peeking through curtainless windows
Anticipation prevents her from sleeping,
Too close to the hour when with glee
The scarce event of the night she will see.
Now behold! The cloudless night has come alive
As the glorious harvest moon sails across the skies
And with unbounded joy she did kneel on her bed
Hands and eyes skywards she held
Mouth open, quick breaths she exhales
Muttering softly so as not to disturb
The long awaited awesome sight of this night
A triangle of heavenly bodies shines in the skies
She lets out one big breath now and sighs
O God, your glorious work mine eyes did give sight.
