In memory of

Frank Victor Boscariol

August 4, 1937 -  January 23, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing on January 23, 2025, of Frank Boscariol, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather.

Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Frank was a master of puns and always found a way to bring laughter to those around him. He will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity of spirit, and his deep love for his family and community.

Born in Windsor on August 4, 1937, Frank graduated from Assumption High School and went on to earn his Bachelor degree from the University of Windsor. He received his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Dalhousie Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1966, marking the beginning of a distinguished legal career.

Frank’s professional journey began as the Supervisor of Labour Relations Research and Appeals at Chrysler Canada in Windsor. After relocating to Toronto, he joined the Ontario Ministry of Labour as a prosecutor of labour offences. He was subsequently appointed as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. He later served as a Commissioner at the Workers Compensation Board and then an Adjudicator on the Canada Refugee Board. After that, Frank established his own labour arbitration practice.

Beyond his professional achievements, Frank dedicated much of his life to serving others. He was a long-time member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and held various leadership roles within the organization, including as its President (Toronto Central Council). He was especially passionate about its prison ministry, spending much of his time counselling inmates at the former Don Jail and the Toronto West Detention Centre, always bringing compassion and understanding to those in need.

In his later years, Frank returned to full-time work as the Director of VincentPaul Community Homes, an organization dedicated to providing housing and treatment for individuals struggling with drug addiction and alcoholism, frequently working in collaboration with Alcoholics Anonymous. He also served on the boards of several charitable organizations, including as a founding member of St. Jude Community Homes (providing housing for those struggling with mental illness) and the board of governors of Riverdale Hospital.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Ann, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He was a proud father to two children, John (Melanie) and Victoria, and a devoted Nonno to six wonderful grandchildren: Rebekah, Jordan, Deryn, Ethan, Quintin, and Sophia.

We will receive family and friends at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre at 375 Mount Pleasant Road on Friday, January 31st from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 78 Clifton Road on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 am. Afterwards, please join us for a reception at 1:00 pm for family and friends at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/12717.

Celso Boscariol, KC (BC Relative)

Entered January 29, 2025 from Vancouver, BC

I met Frank a number of years ago on one his visits to Vancouver. He called me because at the time (in the days of phone directories!) I was the only Boscariol in the Vancouver phone book. The instant I saw Frank, I knew we were related. He bore an uncanny resemblance to my late Uncle Umberto in Italy. We had a great lunch. Frank was a veritable gentleman whose warmth radiated as we spoke and connected the dots from an earlier century. Our grandfathers were cousins from Italy's Friuli Region. Ultimately, I encountered John and Victoria. Condoglianze da la Famiglia Boscariol di BC or in Friulan: Condoleancis de famee Boscariol da BC.

My husband Peter and I are very, very sad to hear of Frank’s passing. We spent many summers as cottage next door neighbours. Frank was a wonderful person, and we enjoyed his good nature and sense of humour. We offer our condolences to Ann, Victoria, John and Melanie, and all the family.
