Franjo Stantic (known as Deda to everyone), passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the age of 84 in his forever home at the cottage in Tiny, Ontario.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 2 pm, at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, North York. At the family’s request, all attendees are asked to meet at the main office, from there we will have a procession to the burial grounds, where Franjo will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Nada.
Born July 31, 1937 in Subotica (former Jugoslavia), son of Joso and Jaga Stantic, married to Nada (nee Svircev) on November 21, 1962. Deda is survived by his brothers Josa and Laico, his sisters Christina, Teza and Antun (deceased) whom he held in the highest regard.
Franjo and Nada shared their two sons, Goran and Sasa, (who cared for him for the last four (4) years); daughters Sonja (Simon) and Gordana (Renaud) and his precious Grandchildren Natallie (Adam), Sarah (Ryan), Victoria, Jensen, and Justin and Sabrina. Deda was blessed to see the birth of his great grandchildren Ricky and Rhemy, who held a precious place in his heart.
Franjo graduated high school and continued to get an Electrical Degree, before immigrating to Canada. He worked for the TTC as an electrician and lived in Toronto.
Our Deda had a story for each and every one of us; from going to war and shooting his foot, hibachi BBQs in Sunnybrook Park, delivering prescriptions for Haber’s Pharmacy, teaching his apprentices to fix escalators and every Friday coming home to the orange cooler packed for his beloved cottage in Lafontaine.
Our family would like to thank his primary physician Dr. Peter Cameron, who always reminded us how much he liked our Dad! We send our deepest gratitude to the numerous nurses involved in his care. A special warm thank you to all the PSWs that gave such personal care to him, tucking him in with his favorite blanket, and making sure he always had foot cream on before his socks.
