In memory of

梁樹仁先生 Francis Shu-Yan Leung

March 28, 1938 -  September 26, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Shu-Yan Leung who went to be with the Lord peacefully on September 26, 2023 at the age of 85 in Markham Stouffville Hospital. He was the son of the late Leung U and Mak Ngan. He was predeceased by his wife, Teresa Yin-Yin Leung in 2022 after 60 years of marriage. He was born in Hong Kong and later retired in Toronto, Canada.

Francis was a dedicated and visionary entrepreneur who transformed his father’s stationery shop into a well established and successful packaging and stationery business in Hong Kong and Macau. He was known by many for his benevolent leadership, hard work and generosity.

Francis had a special interest in Chinese martial arts, and enjoyed learning and practicing Kung Fu during his younger years of life. In the later years after his retirement, he devoted his time to passionately study the art of Tai Chi, and became a Tai Chi teacher. As a teacher, he generously shared his knowledge and skills to many friends and students in the community with zeal and enthusiasm. He was also a beloved member of New Covenant Alliance Church. He touched the lives of many people with his warmth, patience, and genuineness and will fondly be remembered.

A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed and cherished by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Susana and David, Anita and Benson, Elizabeth and Ken, Pauline and Edwin and his grandchildren, Marcus and his wife Allison, Esther, Christine and her husband Brian, Deanna, Jessica, Michael and Tiffany and his great grand-daughter Madeline and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sisters Ting Lai Chan and Leung Lai Hing. He will live on in our hearts forever.

The funeral service will be a private event for family and close friends of Francis Shu-Yan Leung. It will be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre on October 14, 2023. Visitation begins at 9:30 am and service at 10:30 am followed by a burial ceremony. A link to the webcast will be available on top of this webpage on Saturday, October 14th starting at 10:20am for those who want to join in the memorial service on-line. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Toronto General Hospital and/or the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation by clicking the Donations page.
