In memory of

Florence Anne Abrahams

August 4, 1926 -  November 29, 2022

The sun has finally set on a beautiful living soul.

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we share the news of our beloved matriarch's passing at the ripe old age of 96.

Dear Florence Abrahams has taken the hand of God and is now in a place of peace, love and comfort.

She leaves behind five children, Yvonne, Glenville, Lorna, Greg and Dennis, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Chippy, as she was known to family and friends, was the last surviving member of the original Ludski family of Walmer Estate, Cape Town. There were 10 brothers and sisters. She is the last to leave us.

She lost her husband, Leonard Abrahams in 1963 and as a widow she raised her six children. Her son Barre died 28 years ago.

She emigrated to Canada more than 40 years ago and settled in Toronto where she worked and kept the home fires burning.

But her true fame was in her cooking skills. She was amazing in the kitchen. Her dishes were to die for, especially her chicken pies.

Her death leaves a tremendous gap in our lives, but we have wonderful memories of the grand 'ol girl and her hilarious malapropisms!

They will stay with us always. We will never go to the Jack Darling Park again. It will remain the Jack Daniels Park forever. And we will always remember that immortal character, Dinges.

Rest peacefully Chippy. You have been our shining star for all these years and you leave us with beautiful memories, an abundance of love and broken hearts.

I saw on FB someone mentioned the house in Black River, I remember that house all to well. We would walk over those pipes across the river, we really had nerves of steel then. We as in Dennis and I that attended the same primary school. Also Greg would end up been friends to my older siblings. Rest softly Ma Chippy

We knew Chippie as a happy healthy smiling and poised lady. She was always so welcoming and friendly to us and our family, always the same. Pleasant, curious and full of fun will be our memory of a cherished mother and aunt to you all.
