McAFEE, Flora Marie (nee MacDonald)

Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on November 29, 2017 in her 105th year. Flora was the beloved wife of the late David McAfee and was the loving and kind matriarch for three generations to her family. Dear and loving mother of Donald and the late John, and loving “Mum” to daughter-in-law, Susan. Cherished Grandma of Sarah Dykstra (Robert), Lisa Arn (Kevin), Kate Grimsdale (Kerry), Jennifer McAfee (Luke) and Jessica McAfee (Jonathan). Proud Great-Grandma of Jacqueline & Matthew, Olivia & Zachary, Grace, and Henry & Maeve.
Throughout her life, Flora explored many hobbies and had a profound respect for knowledge and learning. She loved spending time at her home- The Cottage- on Lake Simcoe, finding comfort and creativity in her surroundings and great pleasure watching the beautiful sunsets. Family and friends, especially Donna and Dorothy, will forever remember Flora’s strength, wisdom, and warmth.
As expressions of sympathy, a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Service at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 with a burial to follow. For online condolences, please visit www.etouch.ca.

Although I didn't know Flora, I've heard Ken speak of her often. He thought highly of her and spoke of how much he enjoyed their spirited conversations over the years. He admired her intelligence and curiosity. He remembers her as a warm and loving family person. She leaves behind many happy memories of a long life well lived. My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time. God bless.
