In memory of

Fernie "Nanny" Leslie

February 29, 1936 -  November 13, 2022

Leslie, Fernie Nancy (nee. Samler) February 29th, 1936 - November 13th, 2022. Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt. Fernie passed peacefully, in Scarborough at the age of 86. (21 ½ if you're counting leap years!)

Affectionately known as "Nanny" to all her grandchildren, Fernie lived a long and beautiful life. She was a quiet and gentle soul but when she had something to say - it was worth hearing it. Fernie had a quick wit and dry humour. She will be remembered for her giving and loving nature. She cared deeply for her family, her sister Joyce, friends, and her home she lived in for over 67 years.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband John W. Leslie (1934-1998), whom she spent many years with enjoying trips to Florida and musical evenings. Throughout their time together they raised four children whom she is survived by; Lorne Leslie (Rosslyn), Brenda Rutledge (Don 1948-2015), Lynda Boyle (Ken) and Jane Leslie.

Nanny will be missed by her grandchildren, Lee-Ann (Jay), Amy (Mat), Dan (Laurie), Ashley and Kenny; and great-grandchildren Jaylee, Rowan and Cayden.

A private family internment will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fernie's memory to “Love, Scarborough” Scarborough Health Network Foundation.

Fernie would have liked all of us to pass on a random act of kindness when able.

“Bye for now.”

Nanny Fern I will miss you so much. I have many wonderful memories to always have you live on through telling my boys. I loved seeing your face light up when I brought the boys by for visits. I could see in your eyes how Cayden reminded you so much of Dad when he was little, and how you loved how smart Rowan is with his math skills. You were always so proud of us (Leeann, Dan and I) for how far we have come in our careers and loving families.
I wish I could have seen you one last time. You’ve been reunited with grandpa after all these years ❤️. We will all miss you so much. Will miss that Ruby Woo Red lipstick smile and your amazing sense of humour. Rest In Peace with no more pain. Love you Nanny. Xoxo
